E2 Investor Visa
The E visa category is a US work visa targeted at foreign investors. A foreign company can apply for this type of visa to send one or more of their employees to work in a US subsidiary. The American company can be a new entity, an existing entity or a business that is acquired through a merger or acquisition. The E-visa category can also be used by entrepreneurs who want to relocate to the US by establishing a business there.
Treaty Trader / Treaty Investor
Both the E1 visa (trade) and the E2 visa (investment) are based on bilateral treaties between the US and many different countries. Proving the nationality of the investor is therefore one of the key requirements in the visa application. The treaty on which the E1 and E2 visa are based in the Netherlands is called The Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT).
In most cases, an applicant will apply for an E visa at the US Consulate in the treaty country. Dutch citizens will file their application with the US Consulate in Amsterdam. However, it is also possible to apply directly with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It is our experience that although the requirements for an E-visa are very similar for all treaty countries, every consulate has its own interpretation. Each US consulate also tends to have slightly different application procedures and document requirements.
VisaVersa has more than 20 years of experience with E visa applications at many US consulates and embassies in Europe, such as Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris and Frankfurt. During this time we have assisted with more than 1000 successful E visa applications, both E2 Investor and E1 Trader visas.
We can also assist American entrepreneurs that would like to come to the Netherlands under the Dutch American Friendship Treaty.
